Hosting a Table (Representing your country)

Table Considerations

If possible, table hosts are encouraged to wear clothing representative of their country.

Table and Area Decoration
Each table will be provided with a laminated copy of the country's flag and name.

  • When planning your station, consider the following:

    • Displaying pictures from your home country.

    • Showcasing clothing representative of your home country.

    • Including representative items or toys (e.g., jewelry, dolls, etc.).

    • Setting up a designated spot for photo opportunities.

Note: It is not necessary to purchase anything. You may decorate your table as much or as little as you prefer, using items you already have.

Food Considerations

  • Provide small samples of country cuisine: it’s just a taste!

  • Consider the following when thinking about your food preparations:

    • Electrical outlets: Will you need access to any outlets? Keep in mind that the food will be sitting out for 1–1½ hours, so plan for food safety. You might need ice or coolers.

    • Church kitchen: Will you require any equipment or assistance from the church kitchen?

    • Serving needs: How will you serve the samples? What items would you like the church to provide, such as bowls, plates, condiment holders, spoons, etc.?

    • Labels and ingredients: Be sure to label each food item with its name and have an ingredient list available in case anyone asks due to food sensitivities.

Programmed Portion of the Event

  • Is there a musical performance, song, dance, or game that could be presented during the festival program to represent the country? (The number of countries performing each year may be limited by the available time.)

    • If yes, what equipment would be needed?

  • What would be the ideal duration? (The time available will depend on the total number of participants in the program.)
